MX-1 at the docks

First real outing with the diminutive MX-1. Performance is excellent - especially in the low-light, cramped areas. I was very pleased with this little beastie!

All shot in RAW+, processed in LR5 with my lens profile (needs more work!) and QPcard 203 colour profile.

Chatham Historic Dockyard (highly recommended!)

Number 3 is an excellent spot on your part. I love it when people manage to capture narrow random views and make an image from it. well done.

It's probably my monitor (works laptop) but I think they could all do with a slight tweak on clarity or sharpening. Especially 1, 2 5 & 6

A good enjoyable set. I particularly liked #1 which gave me a "I wonder what will happen if I turn this" moment

Looks like a great place to visit, pity it's so far from us. Looks like a good camera: these fine pictures make me want one even more.

As mother used to say: "Then want must be your master." Oh well...

Yes, Chatham Historic Dockyard was surprisingly (?) interesting. The submarine and its little hatches would have been difficult with a dSLR - you have to be quite nimble to get around!

(Tickets are 12 month, and English Heritage get 20% discount. Spent most of the day there and didn't have time for about one third of it - so will revisit! Kids thought it was great - especially with all the machinery. Getting the full tour of the Victorian Ropery was very good too.)

The MX-1 performed very well indeed, and is a superb little camera.

Think I'll revisit the PP on some of these shots...

Matt, there's quite a lot of distortion in the last picture. You say you shot in RAW, I wonder if the camera's software would have corrected the verticals had you used JPEGS.

Andrew - re distortion... if you mean the converging verticals then that's to be expected. I was tilting up the camera to line up with the tower

Actually I shot RAW+. So I compared the in-camera JPG to a non-corrected RAW and the one you see here. In-camera is very good, non-corrected has loads of barrel distortion, and the DIY-Adobe-profile-corrected one that you see here is pretty good (IMO), but could be better.

But then, I did mention that the DIY profile needed some tweaks, and of course lots of time to remake them!

Still, if you want corrected verticals, LR5 can do this nicely:
