Muntjac DA*300

Standing in my bedroom I suddenly saw a pair of Muntjac appear and wander up to my garden.

My first attempts to capture them though both a double glazed window and a glass balcony was not wonderful. Silently I had to pull back a curtain, unlock the door, slowly open it and creep out ... any sudden movement or noise is normally enough to spook them.

These images are ex-camera JPGs, the first of the Buck and the second of the Doe. They were no more than 10-12 metres away.







Not the best pictures but getting wild animals to pose in that environment is impossible! It does show how well the DA*300 works as a point and shoot lens.

My shooting buddy hates them. He calls them "Rats on Stilts".

Good eating though

My Inuit Max loves them too, though they seem reluctant to stay and "play" with him.....

The Buck is an excellent capture

It is said that it is the "best" venison for taste.

I'm happy with it apart from the branch across the face ... but no chance to get it to pose. And it is un-cropped. He had heard something but not seen me, and they remained for another 5 minutes before wandering off. I have had them even closer before - under 5 metres.

There's loads of them near me. I don't think I could actually go and dispatch one though. Besides the freezer isn't big enough.
