Multiple exposure on K10D

Does anyone know how to set multiple exposure as a permanent feature, either in all modes or in USER mode? I have tried setting it in USER, but once the camera is switched off, it reverts to single shot. The camera has the latest firmware 1.3 on it.

I think this is deliberate Most users would not want double exposure on more than one or to shots, and having it permanently set up would probably ruin that once in a lifetime shot. I could be wrong of course....

I am amazed pentax offer this in a digital SLR. I think it a great feature and saves messing around in Photoshop.

It seems that I was misunderstanding multiple exposure. My intention is to take two or three separate shots in macro (to combat camera vibration when using a tripod) to finish up with two/three images, not a composite. I can do this with continuous shooting, but wanted to limit it to two or three frames. From what you have said, this isn't possible other than with a light finger on the shutter in continuous mode!

Do you use the mirror up function before you take the picture? That will remove some of the vibration/movement.

or try a remote release

Remote release does not raise the mirror until immediately before taking the picture so vibration can still occur.

The only way to use mirror up is either with the self timer on 2sec delay or the infra red remote on 3sec delay, niether of which are really suitable if the subject is likely to fly off.

Having the mirror flapping up and down after each shot is likely to increase the risk of vibration

Will auto bracketing work, with zero exposure compensation?

I thought of that but can it be done on the K10D? On the K20D you can only do +/- 0.3 EV

multiple exposure is possible, but I can't remember how to do it.

Just a thought, but why dont you try extended bracket, setting it to vary the sharpness? then you're only flipping the mirror once and the camera will vary the sharpness, your problem might not be totally down to vibration.

Why not use raw instead?
