A few more which involved side to side movement rather than head on shots.

No cropping on any of these as they barely fit the frame as it is.

Was pleased with the overall sharpness, minimal tweaking required.

These were some of my final shots of the F900R group.

2 and 7 are really good!

The others fill the frame a little too much so I see your point about the TC!

Thanks...I shot those from a position i'd normally use the 300mm for and crop where necessary.

These were taken just a few seconds after the same bike as a 'head on' shot...which is the reason I wanted the 400mm reach in the first place, so can't complain.

After looking at about 320 shots so far with the 1.4x converter attached i'd say my 'keepers' are probably closer to 20% than my initial thought of about 15%. With a bit more practice and possibly using my monopod should be able to increase this figure.

My shooting style is more 'sniper' than 'machine gun'...no more than 2 shots at a time so the less than ideal AF isn't so much of an issue for me as it could have been. I've a feeling I did take a few dozen shots using MF as well...yet to see those!

I'm very pleased with it, and i've yet to try it with my 100mm WR macro which would be my other main usage for it. I'll possibly try that out in a few days. Have a few other MF lenses as well i'd like to try with...i'll give my verdict on some other combinations if and when I have anything useful to contribute!

Having had a Kawasaki VN 900cc cruiser in the past and loved it, I do so like all, stress all, of these images. I don't have a favourite, they are that good. And yes, I loved posing on my chrome master. (I'm an extremely sad person in that way.) Whilst these are serious players. (Sigh.)

Thanks very much for your generous comments...really appreciate them. I do have a lot of photographic interests in motorsport and aviation that were I starting from scratch i'd no doubt be guided down the 'conventional' Canikon route. I do really prefer Pentax DSLRs for their ergonomics, OVF and general robustness so I'll stick with them and aim to improve my technique to compensate for inferior AF.

During last friday's visit to Oulton saw hundreds of Canikons, Sony and the odd Olympus...but not one other Pentax! Felt a bit like an ambassador for the brand!
