Apologies. My beginning should read Cornwall NOT Devon

St. Ives,
FYI,
In the 1st picture you can make out St. Michael's Mount and the south coast. It's about 10 miles from each, my wife ans I once walked it and got the bus back to a holiday let.

Ah that clears that up, I've spent many a holiday on the north coast of Devon and couldn't marry it up. Can see now it's St Ives and St Michael's Mount

These give us a very different perspective on what we live upon. We tend to consider what is in front of us and what we see when someone digs a hole - lots of dirt. These emphasise just how little 'dirt' there is beneath our feet and how we are supported on a raft of solid rock. The 'dirt' is progressively degraded until it ends up in the sea. ...... Just my wandering thoughts.

Another fascinating set of images...glad you confirmed it was Cornwall and not Devon as I was convinced the airfield visible in image 4 looked like what is now Newquay Airport (ex. RAF St.Mawgan) !

Agree with David (above) about the nature of the land beneath our feet...look at the scalloped edges of the cliffs on the coastline...gradually being eaten into. The 3D viewpoint afforded to us from the skies can be very informative.

Brings memories of holidays there as a child, being awestruck by the comings and goings of Vulcan bombers. (Showing my age!). And going outside at night, looking at millions of stars in a black sky to the sound of hundreds of garden snails munching the lawn - that's a really odd sound! What a 'load of tripe' you've kicked off here.

So that's where Richard Branson failed to launch a satellite. Interesting.

And an interesting set of photos. There's something about their colours that reminds me of a certain type of old postcard. Nice!

Yeah, I know what you mean. In my first house, you could listen to giant slugs eating the compost heap.

Thanks for all the comments - Folks.
The Airstrip seen in Number 4 shot is in Portreath. RRH Portreath, used by Military and Coastguard, according to Google.
