Just in case anyone has forgotten just how good the *istDL2 is in amongst all the talk of K10Ds

This was taken by my Dad with his DL2 using a Celestron 8" Newtonian and a Jessops 2x converter to give a 2000mm focal length

its actually about 10 frames stacked in Registax, but all this really does is reduce the noise (which was pretty low to start with).

I have a sneaking suspicion that it's the 8" telescope that's making the difference here.

Excellent definition. Great pic.

Super shot - oh for a telescope!

Have you tried a nebula or The Milky Way through it yet : I Think you would come up with something outstanding then.

Keep em comming

Actually yes we have, this is the best shot of the Orion nebula we have got yet

this one is 8 frames at 20 seconds each, unfortunately the mount wasn't aligned quite perfectly so the stars are a little stretched in places. Here Registax really helped because of the faint detail in the cloud. We have since improved the method of aligning the scope and just waiting for the chance to try again.

You can make the stars round again by squashing the image

Well! since the sun only makes rare visits at the moment (usually when I'm too busy to get outside ) I'm having to make do with the moon...

Inspired by various threads on here I had a go at shooting the moon myself early on this evening. Spotted the moon in a bright orange state just above the horizon whilst in the metropolis of Milton Keynes...

K10D, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, Sigma 2x EX tele-converter and a bit of major cropping - even with 600mm of effective focal length it only just filled the centre spot meter frame in the viewfinder...

Not too bad for a rushed first effort from a random bit of carpark!
