Monthly Competition #2 -- Humour (Discussion)

I'm thinking of Humour as depicted in other mediums, such as stone, wood etc rather than the 'Hollywood cartoon' type.

So gargoyles; misericords; etc would fit the bill nicely. I appreciate these two are very European but I'm sure that other cultures have the equivalent, eg totem poles.

The smaller works that appear to be the work of the carver during a mischievious period.

I'm not excluding modern facial expressions providing they are the projection of humour.

Usual competition rules apply
Photographs should be taken on Pentax equipment during the month of August 2012.

For personal reasons I will be closing the competition at 18:00BST on 30th August.

Actually you can't close the competition early, because it's an automatic system. Sorry, there's no way to do that and you won't be able to choose a winner until after midnight.

One other small edit made as we haven't included Ricoh cameras in our brief yet.

Otherwise, looking good and let's hope for an equally sound response to the second outing of this new competition.

Then I'm afraid it will be 3rd/4th September before I can fullfill the obligation. Sorry folks, but other matters prevail that I have no control over and have been booked for more than 6 months.

In that case, why don't I change the date to 30th August? Would that suit? It's finishing part way through the day that's the problem.

Is it not a matter of just discounting those that exceed the time limit?

If so then I think 24:00 of the 29th would be better

I'm not wishing to inconvenience anyone but I have commitments that take priority, so by the evening of the 30th I'm out of circuit.

I don't think it would be fair to exclude anyone who has entered whilst the system is open, so I'll reset it to 29th August.

Thanks John and apologies to all for starting a 'short month' but I will endeavour to adjudiate by the evening of the 30th so that September starts on time

One thing I would urge everyone who enters a competition to do is read the rules very carefully.

This competition, as I read it, is looking for humour in gargoyles, carvings, etc., rather than humour in real life. Anyone disagree and read it differently?

Also, please remember entries should be shot in August 2012, reagardless of the subject matter.

A reminder that this second Monthly Competition ends tomorrow at midnight.
