I have a 680+234RC2 and like it.
Tip: Use something with the same plate / QR system as the rest of your gear and life gets easier I have four plates; one on the tripod collar of the big lens, another on the base of the K10 and K5 and the other on the base of the flash bracket. Monopod or Tripod, it doesn't matter, they all just fit.

I use a Slick 381 and 234RC2. A good combo, for me.
