I never have the curtains open when editing images.

The room should always be as dark as possible for best results. I find a craft / daylight bulb works well and allows for accurate results

just got my Eye-One Display 2 in.
As I allready thought, my IIyama VMP 450 is still very good at displaying colours. I have previously been profiling with wiziwyg, the changes in colour made by profiling were not very big compared to the ICC profile I created with wiziwyg.

But the default whitepoint settings of the monitor were off quite a bit at first. When I set the monitor to 6500K it was according to the colorimeter 7000K. With some manual changing of the R and B values and adjusting the brightness to the 100cd/m2 (they recomend this for CRT's) I got it spot-on.

Overall the colours do look more balanced.

I allso checked my fathers PC with a TFT attached to it which was allso profiled with wiziwyg before but here it was quite a shock how bad this TFT was to begin with (factory settings were horrable). After profiling it looks lightyears better. Especially the contrast and brightness settings were quite difficult to get right.

All-in-all it is a good investment. I allso did the ambient checks the Display 2 can do and I need to change something in the lighting, the amount isn't that bad but the temperature is low. The colour temp is 2800K (fluorescent energy saving bulb).
What kind of lightbulb will get a colour temp of around 6500K?

A flourescent daylight tube should give about 6500K
