Monitor calibration

I was having a rummage round my computer setting last night and discovered a piece of saftware, which is part of the video driver, for setting up the screen.
I ran the software and corrected the Gamma, brightness and contrast, following the instructions.

Now my photos look somewhat darker. Is there a "Test Card" or something similar I can download to check my setting against?

I knew I should have left well alone

If you use Photobox for prints, they certainly used to send a calibration print of their own tp you, alongside which you download the electronic version from them to show on the screen and 'tweak' monitor accordingly to match up!

I use a Spyder, and it has set the screen a bit darker than without the calibration - and this did result (lo and behold) in the prints coming off printer looking more accurate !
have you tried printing off with your adjustments and simply comparing print and screen?

Lets see what others suggest as ell
