Mist

What a gift this morning with the mist/fog hanging around for a while so I headed to the nearest wood, where the sun just started to break through. With the constantly changing light it was difficult to decide where to frame next, trees and bracken suddenly being spotlit by the sun only for it to disappear moments later. Anyhow here are a few to give a flavour:

Lovely little set Rob - but no.4 stands out for me, with that yellow and green of the central tree shining out amongst the muted, misty colours of the surrounding flora

I got up too late and realised what I'd missed. These are a super set. The first one appeals most to me.

Really like the muted tones in the last one.

Thanks all for your kind comments. David, when I first looked out is was dark and foggy so went back to bed! Then the rising sun momentarily lit up the fog with an orange glow and I was kicking myself for not getting out earlier, but as the fog turned to mist I still had time to get to the woods.

A delightfully damp set with great atmosphere .

Looking at the 3rd brings on a familiar cold, damp feeling associated with many dog walks along muddy tracks at the edge of woodland...

Bill, if you have seen Thomas Heaton’s YouTube videos on woodland photography you will know he loves an isolated highlit tree, the trouble is now when I see one I cannot help but question whether it’s because of his influence or of my own volition! Consequently I have cut down on the YouTubes I watch as whilst they can be informative there is a danger one’s work becomes derivative.

I think there's no harm in trying out other styles of photography, whether it's someone else's or your own.
As much as you may feel it's derivative, your eye is ultimately different to someone else's, as is your scene and choice of post-processing so the likelihood of it falling into dangerous territory is reasonably slim (in my opinion).

As for the OP, love the set. #5 sings out to me.

Delightful set Rob, 2 may be the special one for me, but they all have atmosphere.
