Come to think of it, Tim (Ammonyte) hasn't been around for a while either.

Tim (Ammonyte) posted earlier in the year saying that he had suffered quite a few problems in the previous months but that he would be back with us posting again but nothing more has been heard.

I had been wondering about another regular poster who seems to have gone AWOL. Promhandicam was the only other forum member below the Sahara (that I am aware of, at least). His last login was in June.
Promhandicam was a very regular contributor.

Perhaps he is now in a particularly remote part of Africa.

My brother in law, who is based in Addis, but travels to Sudan etc. only manages very sporadic e-mails to us.

Hope they are all well!

This is an interesting phenomenon. This very day I was informed on another forum (not camera-related) about one of the regulars - he had passed away and there was a description of his civil life, all explained by a friend and member of the forum. Guy was actually quite harsh sometime - loved a fierce argument, so had some "enemies". Nonetheless I felt sad when I read about him.

You can be more emotionally attached to you have never seen and on the other side of the globe, than your neighbour.

Or maybe it's just because I have just visted my uncle at the hospital. He had a stroke today and know he's all confused, can't say anything etc. Two weeks ago we were making loudspeakers.

Hey, let's be careful out there.

Hi,

Not having been around much myself recently I hadn't noticed Tim not being around. I have his mobile number, as we both went to the St Albans meet arranged here, so I've just texted to check he's OK. I don't know whether the number is current, it being 18 months or so, but we can only hope.

Cheers

Thanks Liam.
AJ (Justgetoutandride) hasn't been around for a while either it seems to me.
Funny how you begin to miss all these people you've never even met.

Nothing from Tim, must be an old number I have, but his last login to ephotozine was Monday just gone (22nd) so he hasn't gone far..

Cheers

It's great to see that dirk1000 is back again and has posted in the Gallery. I used to enjoy his photos from Argentina.

Dear friends,

Last night I had a bit free time so decided to investigate the new features of our PentaxUser Forum in his renewed face.

Discovered many things I was a little forgotten about. Playing whit the new searching tool I found with great surprise the post “MISSING PERSONS REPORT” started by Martin (Malo1961) the 11-DIC-2008. Oh! my God, it was about me! My heart started to run faster and faster. A great emotion invaded all me. Yes, I am the culprit. I abandoned the Forum and all my friends without any advice! Strongly ask forgiveness for my negligence…

What I did in all this time?.Well, I am near my retirement (now postponed to October of 2010), so I began a project for what I will do when I don´t fly anymore. The idea was build, with my own hands resources, a kind of workshop where I can develop all the things in the past I couldn’t do by lack of time. I know about carpentry, smithy and turnery but the main interest is in a photographic studio. I projected and build a 50 square meters workshop for do all this things I have in mind.

I started with my work in June and finished with the roof and the floor at mid January of this year. 7 months of heavy bricklayer work! When I got immersed in the work, my mind and my body just knew about bricks, concrete, iron structures, stones, sand, pails, stairs, tiredness and sweat… (lost 5 Kg of weight in all this month’s).

In August in a rainy day I remembered my Pentax! Oh! the batteries are still in the camera. I extracted from before I forget and damage the camera.

Time by time, I did some shots for registering the progress of the project. And some late nights (not too much) I went into the Forum for track the Competitions and the new Main Gallery (I wrote some C&C).

Thanks to all my friends in the PentaxUser Forum for his esteem and preoccupation in my person. Really I deeply appreciate all what you did for a friend…

Thanks, Martin, George, Terry, Lilly Ann, Ralf, Debora, Peter, Dr. Mhuni, Alan, David, Roland, Hyram, JoeS, LiamD and Stephen.

Wow Dirk, that's a big project, no wonder you didn't have time!

This leads to the question, of course, when the first Pentax User Forum workshop will take place in your studio

Good to know that you are in good health and that there is no danger of you getting bored anytime soon.

Good to have you back Dirk.

That is one impressive building you have got there. No wonder you had no time for us. Hopefully now you'll get to enjoy your new studio, and we'll get to enjoy the photos made there.
