Went out last night to Salford Quays. Used my fisheye (of course ) and got this.

Ideal subject and nicely shot! Are those twirly curls in the foreground just he result of the lens distortion?

I know you're going for the 'max' here - but I think the yellow saturation , and the foreground blue, is just a little OTT.

Thanks Guys.

Gareth is right, the colour saturation is exactly what I wanted. The sliders in cameraRaw could have gone much further, but I have have settled on about 50%. The shot itself I think lends itself to such punchy colours.

Well, saturation levels are not a rule - its a personal choice, I just felt the yellow and blues were too much. Granted, its an effect that the photographer wanted to exaggerate, but I find it a bit garish and it detracts from the very high technical achievement of the shot.

Thats fine Nigel. We all have our preferences. If we all liked the same, the world would be a very boring place.
The important thing is that the photo has generated critique, as opposed to nothing, and that is a good thing.

This is great.

Really like your use of the moustache effect here.

I like it too - seems to me that this is what fisheyes are made for!

Great shot, and great colours. I would put it on my wall!

Why do some people on here find something to criticise in EVERY picture that is posted?

I love the composition, although please straighten it up ( Vertical centre line leans to the left )

As for the bold colours ..... it gets a thumbs up for being bold but the actual colours ain't my bag

The title in the top left and copyright warning in the bottom right are totally distracting.

I did'nt notice the vertical, but looking at it again, I think you are right. I will straighten the original before I print it off. It is certainly a shot that I am going to print large.

As for the title and copyright, It is what I normally do for Flickr. I have just uploaded the Flickr shot for here as well

Living locally. I see a lot of photographs of this bridge. This is up there with the best of them. Well done on your effort....

Great bold and striking shot with good colours.

I suspect it might look even more striking if the red buildings had their luminosity turned down a bit giving the bridge structure more prominence.

I like it, apart from the lean to the left (which I didn't notice until Smeggy pointed it out) and I'm not sure about the vapour trail (not that there's much you could have done about it) but I'm not suggesting you should clone it out.

Was this with the DA10-17?
