Mick has died at the age of 66. I wonder how many he influenced with his knowledge to say nothing of his colourful jumpers. I wonder if there are any Pentax users into archaeology. RIP Mick Aston
Enjoy life

He certainly engaged me with his enthusiasm. 66 is no age. I wonder if he will be end up in a Kist.

Heard about this yesterday. Very sad. Only 66. I loved Mick ( and is legendary jumpers ). great member of the Time Team. I heard he waklked out of Time Team last year because the programme makers brought in a useless co-host for Tony Robinson who was a special K model.

Yes, 2 more Time Team fans / Pentax users here.

Very sad at relatively young age for nowadays, Mick / Phil & Tony were the core of TT for us, their love for the subject infectious. It lost something after his departure.

Met him once but only for a very few brief minutes when they visited Burslem in Stoke on Trent, quite some years ago, but the knowledge that himself and others in the team had just made you listen and be totally in awe of them.

I remember the very first episode and he appeared with his leg in plaster, he had broken it. Didn't stop him contributing to the programme.

A sad loss

what a loss - first time team being retired and then Mick passing away.

I think that he brought archeology to the people whilst challenging the establishment. He certainly inspired me to get a community archeology programme some funding for work on Ilkey Moor.
