Metz questions

I have two questions on a Metz 50 AF-1 I bought from SRS within the last fortnight

1. Is a USB cable usually supplied? It seems petty not to include one for a unit that costs £165 and there is a recess in the side of the polystyrene that serves no purpose whatsoever that would be around the size needed. There is also nothing in the handbook that specifies what type of cable. I phoned SRS and the person that answered had to check with someone else before telling me they aren't included.

2. How do I actually go about updating the firmware? The Metz website isn't very instructive as far as I can make out. My flash is version 1 and the latest update is v2

There wasn't a USB cable supplied with my 58 AF-2 so I doubt there is with any of the Metz flashes.

You need a standard USB mini cable which I'd guess only costs a couple of pounds though you may well have one already as they come with all sorts of devices.

Instructions on downloading and installing the firmware is available on the Metz website here. I think v2 is relating to the firmware version not the flash version.

Thanks Woodworm

Sod's law. I've got every cable and connection except that one.

I know. Perhaps I should have said -'My flash has version 1 and the latest update is v2'

Sorry, I misunderstood your first post regarding the versions. I was thinking AF-1 & AF-2 as my flash is v2.
