In what way is it corrupted? There may be a chance that it is not corrupted but that for one reason or the other the OS does not recognises it any-more and it may be worth to try it on a couple of different computers to see if it works then.My wife has a corrupted memory stick is their any way to down load the information from it.

Try accessing it with the last computer it was used on but make sure that the drive get scanned first (just in case).
A bit more info would be helpful.

I wouldn't even bother with a virus scan. If it found something it would possibly be a false positive and then the AV software would mess everything up trying to delete it. A Hex editor is the best way to look at the memory stick or just a filemanager.

Don't try opening it on the stick. Try copying it over to the Hard Disk first.

Hasn't Google an online spreadsheet where it would be save to open it with? I would avoid this one on my computer as it may has a macro in it and that may also be the reason why it will not open.
However it may also be that the file is corrupted i.e. that the memory stick was removed before the file was written completely in to the stick.
Would you not have a backup somewhere of the file?
If so format the stick and try again with something where you got a backup from. Make sure that you fill up the stick just to make sure you do not have any bad 'sectors' on the stick as you then may bin it anyway.
