Medium Format Film Images

Some recent shots taken with the Pentax 67ii and SMC 67 105mm f2.4 lens. The first two shots Kodak Porta 800, the third Fujifilm Velvia 50. Scanned on a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro. Images captured and digitized with stoneage technology!

The first one is definitely the one I'd hang on my wall because it's both attractive and restful. But the 3rd is my favourite because I'm attracted to structure of all sorts and this is almost pure structure - there's beauty there in the same way that light reflecting from chaotically wavy water can be beautiful. I feel that I ought to like the 2nd but can't. Perhaps it's because the tree doesn't stand out enough from the background, a shaft of sunlight illuminating just the tree would make all the difference. But clouds and sun will do their own thing - and of course that is usually not what the photographer wants...

Thank you Steve! It is always interesting to learn how other people respond to ones photos. The third photo, Velvia 50 birch against blue sky, was an attempt to make some kind of abstraction, I was imagining abstract painting, something similar to Jackson Pollock, which I like a lot. Image number 2 is too dark, it makes more sense if lightened a wee bit. I include a slightly revised version below.
