Maybe a novice question but what is a 100% crop?

Hi guys, what is a 100% crop and how do you achieve it? I assume you zoom in? But how far?

Perhaps one of you more experienced shooters could explain.

Cheers !

100% crop means viewing an image at full size. Your monitor probably can't display a full size image so scales it down.

For example my K5 image resolution is 4928 x 3264, but my monitor can only display 1600 x 900 so I see it scaled down accordingly.

If you use Lighroom then there is a 1:1 (100%) zoom option.

People will post a small part of an image (a cropped image) at 100% so that you can view the resolution of the camera.

I think someone who hasn't had a little whiskey can explain that better than me!

Ah thanks from me, I never understood the 100% crop malarky either...
