Masai Mara 2007

I hae had some wonderful comments about my Tanzania photos and so have decided to share some taken in Kenya in 2007. I told someone I had the complete set of Big Cats up trees, and while the adult Cheetah (adults don't climb trees and even our guide said he had never seen this before) was taken in Kenya, the Lion is Tanzania this year. The Cheetah was a record shot quickly take before he climbed down again. I have included the type of shots most people enjoy seeing, however, as a wildlife lover I am aware that not everything on the Mara is pretty but all is necessary to sustain life. I have therefore decided (after discussions with other PUs) to include a link to one particular photo rather than posting it as I am sure some people won't like it. But I have been told it is a very special photo. If you do not want to see the harsher side of wildlife in Africa please do not look at the photo. You have been pre-warned.

If you select the picture there should be a resize image option just above it. I realise I am very luck. Went to Tanzania in 2004 andfell in love with it. My first trip was a weeks safari followed my a week at the beech. Haven't been back to the beech since! I'm sure you will enjoy your first trip abroad and be keen to travel further afield when you can afford it

Camera insurance? Never even considered taking that out!!!! Just thought the normal holiday insurance covered it I will send you a PM with the photo on.

Yes my travell insurance does "cover" it but if you look on most of the small print it only covers the stuff up to a max of £300-£400 so not much use with a £1000 worth of kit LOL

Also from what I hear there a bit funny when it comes to camera equipment.

So I just need to find some good camera insurance thatl cover me for anything..

Anyone know a company up to the task!?

Never really considered how much my camera equipment is worth! Might have to look a bit closer if I go away next year

I've been using www.photoguard.co.uk who are pretty good (but they sent me a reminder the day my insurance ran out. I was on holiday at the time and if anything had happened I wouldn't have been covered!!!)

The good thing is you can add and remove items at any time online.

MAJOR EDIT - Also try the Pentax User Club Insurance insurance

Thanks Greynolds, Someone else suggested the PU Club insurance to me so I went and got insured with them reasonable terms and premium.

Jeanette, if you are ever short of a travelling companion, I'm up for it.

I spent a weekend in the Krueger National Park in South Africa (when it was under white rule) and took hundreds of shots on film (PC's weren't even around then, let alone DSLR's). Best weekend of my life so far except I never did see a cat up a tree and the only lions I saw were about a mile away.

Oddily enough I often do have trouble finding a travelling companion! Be warned though - these trips don't come cheap. I use a specialist photographic tour company these days.

OK. Enough flirting. Mind you this is a friendlier post than most at the moment! Why don't you liven it up by suggesting how much better it would have been if you'd had a K7 with Video!

Not even been on my first safari and already planning my next. Keep trying to talk myself into going to Antartica. £5k, 16 days and a billion penguins! Wonder if I'll need colour film?
