One from yesterday morning, quite a lot of mist, so converted to mono.

Great, very effective! Ticks all the compositional boxes and the editing work is strong too. Good depth and contrast as well. To me it seems like, on FF at least, it is an 'F11 or F16' kind of image, not F8 ....... ?

Thanks Nigel, the exif defiantly says F8, I did selectively sharpen the foreground, perhaps its that.

Thanks Paul,

Most images I've seen have been in colour at either sunrise or sunset with the light picking up the limestone from the side.

No, It's the other way around ....I was surprised that you had shot it as wide open as F8. I was saying I thought it should have been shot at F11 or F16, considering the style of image.

I generally shoot landscapes with my 14mm, when there's close foreground, at F13 ..... And that's on aps-c ....

I was interested to see others views here, both about the DOF aspect as well as diffraction considerations on our new Fill Frame format here.

Ah.... OK, thanks Nigel,

I have just acquired a 14mm f2.8 and will bear that in mind for next time, I did use it at this location but again was at F8.

I received a free filter holder for my Samyung, the filters are huge, and 1/3rd the price of the lens, what have you done if anything ?

I have not tried to use filters with the Samyang 14mm ....I have made do with multiple exposures, blending and HDR techniques where warrented. I accept though that good filters are likely to produce better results generally, so it will be good to see how it works out for you.

I thought the question about optimal aperture here might be another interesting talking point .. ... As indeed might the matter surrounding whether a well known, common scene justifies attention from photographers to whom it may well be new to.

This one demands a much bigger display area. I accept the reasons for leaving things smaller but ........

Here's another one, about an hour after the earlier upload when the mist had re-appeared.
