m42 adapter without the spring attached

I've got an M42 to pentax adapter with the spring detached. That's good, right? If I understand correctly it just means I have to be aware when focusing that I don't unscrew the lens+mount from the camera.

As long as there is no flange preventing the lens seating itself on the mount on the body, you will get infinity focus.

I removed my metal strip to facilitate removing the adapter. As you say, just be careful not to unscrew the whole caboodle.

I have now tried the mount but I think it's too easy for the lens to fall off without the spring thingie, it's an 85mm 1.8 takumar and the aperture ring is stiff with a firm focus so it wants to drop off fairly easily.
