LX Sticky Mirror

Posted 07/01/2003 - 12:54 Link
I've owned an LX for several years now and been very happy about it. However I took it out at the weekend and had some problems.
The mirror is locking up at speeds of 1/60 and below. Turning the speed selector to 1/90 releases this.

Is this the dreaded "sticky mirror" I've read about?

Can somebody please recommend a good technician or repair centre in the UK who can fix this for me.

Thanks

Andrew

Speeds of 1/75 and faster will operate without batteries on the LX. It could just be that new batteries are needed to utilise the slower speeds. If the batteries are low it could be normal for the mirror to lock up as a warning.

John is right, what you have described is a battery issue. The LX sticky mirror problem normally manifests itself as a short delay in the mirror swinging up when the shutter is fired (caused by the rubber 'dampers' which the mirror comes to rest on deteriorating and sticking to the mirror and delaying its release).

You are correct! Replacing the batteries solves the problem.
Thanks for the help.
