Lurkin' Too Long!

Thought it about time I said hello to everybody!

Been lurking around the forum, on and off, since I acquired my K-M 3 years ago but never seemed to have time to stop and say hi!

Well now I am making time to say hello from Christchurch, down on the sunny (between the cloudy bits) South Coast.

I must say thanks to everyone, the posts on the forums have been really helpful at times and a great source of inspiration.

Although I owned a Praktica something or other followed by a Fuji ST605 in the dim and far too distant past (could never quite muster the readies for a Pentax, so just drooled over pictures of them...very sad I know!), there were many barren years where neither time nor money were in plentiful supply (and still aren't!) and cameras were an absolute luxury.

Diving, well dipping my toes, into digital photography with a Casio QV-R40 about 8 or 9 years ago really awakened by desire to get back into photography and resulted in the K-M.

Only really used it as a glorified "point and shoot" until recently but made an effort over the last few months to learn how to use it properly, started taking pictures in RAW format and post processing and started seeing a difference over the in-camera jpeg files.

Apart from trying to keep my LBA in check (acquired an old MZ-50 off e-bay just so I could get my hands on the longer lens!), I have now come up against some of the short-comings of the K-M in that it's low light performance ain't too good (not happy with anything shot at ISO 200 or over) and I am now lusting after something better such as a K-R or, dare I say it, a K-5!!!

Looking forward to improving my pictures, making some contributions to the community and being around for a while!

Hello and Welcome to the Forum. I'm really not the one to comment, as I've never used a K-M, but I would have thought that ISO 200 would be OK for low light. Perhaps someone with experience of the K-M can help?
