Lost your charger?

See below a picture of the replacement battery charger I got recently from China – to take the place of one I lost on holiday. I was initially a bit anxious about what this might do to my batteries, though after reassurance from other buyers (and because of the complications of getting branded chargers from the UK here to Ethiopia) I took the plunge and ordered one.

Am very pleased I did. There is no noticeable change in battery life. Meanwhile, it’s much more compact than the original charger (having a fold out US-type plug built-in, to which you can connect an adaptor). It also has a lead for charging from a car jack – which is actually very useful (particularly here in Ethiopia). I don’t know if it will have any impact on the long-term battery life, but so far I am very happy.

So if you’ve lost your original charger – or even want a more compact option - do consider one of these.

A Swedish colleague (with a C@non, would you believe) hadn't got his luggage when boarding the ship and had to resort to this DIY project. It's not as compact (as he used a PC power supply) but it did the job...
