Try formatting the memory card. I think that will fix it...

do not use your computer to erase your cards.Always format in camera.
I don't know why red means stop and green means go.... I don't know who came up with that... but I do know that colliding with a truck on my motorcycle is not good for my health, so I just follow the rule... and hope the other guy does too. things seem to work out ok so far that way!

I nearly always format my cards on the PC and haven't experienced any loss of storage space.

As I said..I really don't know why...it just appears to randomly affect the odd card.... could be the os, the reader, or the card or the camera, but I've heard too many people come up with some bizzare circumstance where-in a card they though was bad, worked fine after formatting in camera....
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

My little regime is this:
* Shoot onto card A
* When done, remove card A and insert card B
* Use the in camera Format to erase card B
* Load the images from card A onto the PC.
(repeat for card B...)
That way I have the images on a card until I need to reuse that card... just in case there's a problem with the PC and the backups. (Actually I have 4 cards and cycle them around.)
Never had an issue when using the in-camera format

Sure enough, formatting in-camera solved that problem easily. Thanks for the patient advice on my learning curve ... and for the suggestions for card rotation regime.

I bought two SD cards: a 4 GB SanDisk and a 1 GB lab brand. No problem taking photos, or transferring them to the Mac.
BUT ... I just noticed that when I delete the photos from the card after transferring to the computer that the camera shows a greatly reduced number of photo space available on the card. (I have set it to RAW and have left it there.) Still no trouble taking and transferring photos.
But at this rate, I'll have no space left after my next morning out!
What am I missing?
