Hello and a happy new year to you all.Well did anyone see or did any one get any shots of the London Eye fireworks????????????

Up to 250,000 people have lined the banks of the Thames in central London to see the New Year's Eve fireworks display and mark the start of 2011.

The 10-minute display had a musical soundtrack for the first time, showcasing some of the most famous songs by British artists.

Crowds gathered on Victoria Embankment and South Bank, but some Tube stations and bus stops faced restrictions.

Red, white and blue fireworks lit up the London Eye in the display.

so who got any shots of em ????? it would be great to see them if anyone did.

Here's a link to a slideshow of photos I took last night. It's the view from Ruskin Park, near our house in South London, looking towards the London Eye which is about 3 miles away.

Not posting the shots in this forum as they didn't come from a Pentax (my son was using that at the same time.....), but it shows you what the GF1 can do....

Happy new year!

They're really good Jon, there was that many going off I thought any images of them would be a highlighted blob of colour
You're right - there were a lot. I reduced the shutter speed a lot from initial 8 seconds to closer to 1 second - I was just getting a load of blown highlights with the longer exposure....

I was using 3s with a 3 stopper, so that sounds about right. Most of mine were damped a lot by the low cloud / ice / snow, though

Nice set, looks like a decent display.

I remember a couple of years ago ( or maybe even last year ) teh idiot BBC camera crew totaly overexposed and blew out the coverage of the London Eye show.

This year they managed it a little better, but the final blast was clipped
