Great results Chris - the background is particularly good (i.e well oof and not distracting) in 1 and 3, too often we consider the main subject without looking beyond.

Another lens I've been talking myself out of for several months - you're not helping me much at the moment

Thanks John, really appreciated, If it would help to take your mind off acquiring either the Sigi 100 -300 and or the Pentax 150 - 450 we're not that far apart and I'd be happy for you to try them so you could decide their not for you

The Sigma used to come as a kit paired with a 1.4x teleconverter in some mounts. Did the Pentax one ever come as that set?

As far as I know, never as a kit, there was a matched 1.4TC and a 2x TC which worked with a few other Sigma lenses of the time, I've seen one for sale either on here quite recently or poss on another forum, cant recall which.

Very nice indeed.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
