Llanberis Slate Museum

For forum members interested in industrial archaeology, here is a slideshow of a set I took in the Llanberis Slate Museum in North Wales. It's a wonderful place, full of interest and photographic potential and quite moving in its portrayal of a long lost world.

Be warned, however, there are seventeen pictures in the set and should only be viewed by tolerant enthusiasts!

I clicked, I viewed, I liked...

Personally, I think numbers 3, 5 and 17 are the strongest.

Best wishes, Kris

6 is my favourite. The whole set tells a story and I cetainly got a feel of the place and what it must have been like to be there when it was operational.

Thanks everyone. It was a gloomy afternoon with poor light, so it wasn't a bad place to be. Never get tired of going there.
Best wishes,

Andrew

A very enjoyable set of pictures Andrew, you've selected a good cross section to paint a picture of this remarkable Welsh industry.

Personally, this is the most enjoyable set of yours I've yet seen. I feel like I've been there now. I really like the metal containers. The slates at the window (subject to a crop to the left of the second windowframe) and the coat rack I'd happily have framed.

I'm gratified by your kind observations, gents. Glad they struck a chord with you both.

Someone really ought to go there with a K20 to capture the low light interiors in lovely grain-free detail.
Best wishes,

Andrew

I was there there on Wednesday, your shots certainly give a great feel for the place.....was it also you Andrew that posted the old petrol station shot - I drove by it a few times as we stayed just outside Llanrug?
