Hi Neil, sounds like the lens is trying to autofocus, switching to manual focus should solve this.

It does this to perform the autofocus in both 'face detection' & 'contrast af' modes. The only way to avoid this is if you set the Liveview for 'phase difference' mode....the live view momentarily switches off and the camera autofocuses with the AF sensor and doesn't zoom in.
Go to MENU > rec.mode4 > live view and choose the 'phase difference' mode (3rd symbol down).

apologies if stating the obvious but it does that to confirm what it's focussing on so you can decide if that's what you want it to focus on

Just turned OFF the face detection setting for liveview and it doesn't do the annoying hunting thing. This is on my K7.
One day you'll find, 10yrs have got behind you.

when i half depress the shutter button the image
zooms in and out can i stop this
