Live at Leeds 2013

First festival of the year and this year I was invited to be part of the official Live at Leeds photography team

Manages to shoot 15 acts scattered around the city centre of leeds, so travelling light was the order of the day, editing done on the IPad and photogene for live coverage of teh day and then later in Lightroom 4.4

I think you have commented that your images (which are always great to look at) are improved by the use of the K5ii and 16-50. These really jump off the screen. I am absolutely loving no.1 and no.10 in particluar. Stunning

Really great atmospheric shots.

No 10 is my favourite of the day, I just couldn't have gotten that shot with the original k-5, the focussing on the mkii is lightning fast I very rarely miss a shot now. Same with number 1.

Someone mentioned in another post that the noise on the mkii looks different to the mki and I would agree with that, the last shot is at ISO 3200 in a really dark venue, yet the grain has a film like quality to it, which I really like and suits that shot really well making it look really gritty and grimy

Is the AF noticeably faster in good light, or is it the ability to lock on poor light that is the only difference?

Brilliant Gary... For me No1, Is the go to shot. Very different from the usual gig type shots.

I have the camera now just need to save for the lens. Then somehow find a whole loada skill....lol

Superb shots, really great. I think it's "Alunageorge" rather than "Lunageorge" BTW.

To be honest I have only tried my F 50mm in daylight and that locks on instantly but haven't done a side by side comparison with the k-5.

All excellent, but yup #10 stands out immediately.

Let's hope the new and improved AF, which is proving itself in the feild, continues with Pentax

and yup love the balcony shot [ #1 ]. You'll have to climb up in the lighting rig next

Another superb set Gary, I am really impressed with your work. It's also great to see that the K-5II is proving to be a superb tool for your particular job. I'm a real novice where taking shots in difficult conditions like these is concerned, but I have done a couple of weddings recently in conditions where the light was poor to say the least. My experience on these was that the K-5IIs is incredibly reliable, both for focussing and lack of image noise, whereas unfortunately I just couldn't place the same trust in my K-5 Mk1 - it missed a lot of shots due to poor focus accuracy.

Thats just how I feel about the mki, i am looking at getting anothe mkii but just waiting a few weeks to see if the mkiis price falls.

My firend who shoots with a 1d mkiv was really impressed witt the focus speed of the mkii and 16-50mm I thinkmhis exact words where "wow!"
