I've just had a look an noticed there is a slight difference when using RAW files too, it seems more pronounced with JPEGS though.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
Apparently.

Try selecting 'standard' previews, if not already done - although library mode in my version 3 copy doesn't display for developing purposes. It's more the 'quick & dirty' mode for basic and bulk changes on the run.

Where exactly? Sorry for the handholding, only had LR a week or so, still learning the ropes!

When you import images into LR, you will get a file import / handling window that opens up. Look in the far right hand pane - you will see an option there for 'Previews'. One of the options is for 'Standard' previews.
These will take longer to load, as each one has to be re-rendered individually on import by LR. The other options use the thumbs generated by the camera itself (they're the ones you would see on the LCD on the camera).
Good thing is though - standard previews are only rendered by LR once.
I've never used anything but standard previews, so I'm not sure if that will make the difference you are looking for. It can't hurt though.

noticed this today when processing some older JPEGS on Lightroom 3 (I shoot RAW now, and have never noticed this issue with them).
In Library mode, I select a picture and view it full screen. I then click on Develop to process it. Say for example I turn sharpening up to 100. The picture is shown in the develop module with the changes I applied. However when I go back to the library module the picture doesn't quite look the same (you can actually see the image change as you select "Library"). It looks different to how it originally did in Library (pre processing), but not the same as it does in Develop.
This only appears to happen to images shot in JPEG and only seems to apply to certain adjustments (i.e. sharpening and noise reduction, not black & white conversion).
Has anyone experienced this, and is there anything I can do to change it?
Apparently.
