Lightning last night

I know it's hardly the most amazing lightning shot ever taken, but I have always wanted to get a shot of forked lightning.

I could sense a storm brewing, so had my K20D on continuous shooting mode with a remote trigger keeping the button down. I had the Sigma 10-20 at 10mm f8 and was taking 6 secong exposures at ISO 100.

The camera was on a tripod looking outward from my garage but still sheltered from the rain.

And this was the result (not bad I think!). I cropped into the area where the lightning occured.

I can never rest can I? The street light really does help this shot I dont think. So I removed it, and also went for a tighter crop:

Nice shot. BTW the second one is best, I particularly like the outline in the background.

Much better without the street light, very well done.

I was watching the lightning fo ages last night before realising I had a camera

By the time I unpacked it and set up the tripod it was all over.

Nice capture.

Like the tighter crop but I liked the street light. Second shot has lost something with out it.

+1 - it was playing well against the lighting IMO.

Like the tighter crop and the street light too!

Maybe if I hadn't seen it.........

Both are really very good so it's being nit-picky really.

Can't wait for Thor to visit Barking now though! Very inspirational shots thanks.
