Let me know the insurer name and name of policy (they normally have a brand name of policy but not always) by pm and I may be able to point you in the right direction as to how to deal with them

I obviously don't know the full story here (why you're making a claim et) but just having a look at the specs is presume your k10d grand prix was shipped with a battery grip. In which case tell the insurer's you'll accept any model from the current range supplied as standard with a battery grip. Our is after all an essential feature that cannot be duplicated in the "consumer" range no matter how hard they try to argue about specs and depreciation.

This all boils down to the specifics of the insurance policy. Unless I am missing something, the thread doesn't state whether the policy is 'new for old', or anything about the specific terms. Without this information it is useless to speculate about whether the offer is right or not.

but when you have had it from new and it was then top off the range there should be a better offer on the table than that(you dont have a bentley and accept a nissan micra as a replacment would you)
Car insurance does not provide 'new for old' cover after the first year of ownership, unless you pay a huge premium for specialist car insurance. It pays out 'Market Value', which means that in fact you may very well end up with a Nissan Micra for your Bentley, especially if you want to replace your old written off car with a new one.

In this context, the offer of a K50 may well be a very fair one.

I had a similar situation recently when my dishwasher blew up (and it did blow up - noise, smoke, beyond repair!).

The insurers offered me a replacement based on overall specs and number of wash programmes. I pushed back explaining that when I bought the original dishwasher it was based on one specification only - a completely stainless steel interior - and as far as I was concerned that was the only 'like for like' requirement, so offer me anything provided it has a complete ss interior.

They upped the offer. I got what I wanted.

In your case surely it's a simple - 'I don't mind which model provided it's a Limited Edition, (or top of the range) because that was the only buying criteria at the time I bought it'.
