Lens Upgrade

Hi All

I'm thinking of updating my Pentax DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED lens. First thoughts were the ED WR version, not the PLM version as I understand it's not fully compatible with my K5.
I'm interested in any other alternatives.

Thanks

Your correct the PLM version is compatible from the K3 onwards, apart from the WR, whats yor existing lens not doing for you ?

I was initially looking at upgrading the K5, but thought of looking at my lenses instead and the 55-300 is a lense I use a lot. Without WR seems the first call.

The K5 is a well capable camera, if its just the WR then if it was me depending on the other lenses you own, look to add one that stretches you in some way, or takes you in a different direction, macro maybe ?

WR is only weather resistant, not water proof, how many times a year do you and your camera get wet ?

I've had wonderful results from my K5 and 55-300WR. You ought to find one on E bay at a reasonable price. I don't think you will find a better combination in a zoom for a crop sensor.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
