Lens Selection

Any of you guys out there got a DA 17-70 AND a DA 18-135? How do they compare in terms of image quality and speed/quietness of auto-focus?

I bought my new K-5 body before Christmas and now I'm looking for a standard "walkabout". I was tending towards the 18-135 until I read the various comments about IQ.

I've read reviews on each, but you cant beat a side-by-side comparison.

Anyone?

Gwyn has both, I believe.

I had a 18-135, but no longer (didn't like the edge performance). I still have a 17-70, which I'll probably keep.

The 18-135 is extremely fast and quiet to AF (by Pentax standards anyway). The fastest and quietest I've had.

Sorry only just seen this.
Yes I have both. I'm still undecided on whether or not to keep the 18-135 though.

It has very fast, quiet and accurate focussing. It has a good range, and is lightweight. The IQ is good but not outstanding, and it is prone to PF or CA (never sure what the difference is :blush.

The 17-70 is my lens of choice for serious work. The AF is not fast, and it can hunt on occasion, but the IQ is terrific. It is the one I will keep if I have to get rid of one of them.
