Lens recommendation

Hello all

After trying to build up my prime lense collection for my manual film cameras I am toying with the idea of a short end zoom to compliment.

I am looking for a zoom in something like the 28 - 80 range but the main thing is it must have a constant apperture. I want the lens mainly as a walk about street photography lense which will sometimes be going on my MX which does not have apperture priority so don't want to be constantly worrying about the focal length etc when I see something.

Being 2.8 would be a bonus too

Any recommendations, does the lense exist, don't really have a budget in mind but am prepared to save up if I really want something.

I'm pretty sure that Sigma make a 24-70 in Pentax mount which is a constant f2.8. I think (although best to check) that it is a full frame lens rather than being designed specifically for a crop sensor. No idea of price, although as is often the case, there are probably earlier incarnations of the lens available second hand - worth a look perhaps.

Boyo, I have the lens that Mat mentions and it is on my camera most of the time. I find the zoom range realyl effective for everyday use and the constant 2.8 is also pretty useful. the onyl downside is it is rather buly.
Mine was approx £250 second hand from LCE a few years ago, I have no idea what the going rate is now though.

I have a Sigma 24-60 F/2.8 EX DG which I find excellent; if you can find one they're pretty cheap because everyone seems to want the extra 10mm of the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 IF EX DG HSM.

Tamron 28-75 f2.8.

I have just got one to supplement my DA 18-55 & DA 55-300. The idea being to keep it on most of the time as a walkabout general lens.

They are about £330 new, but I got mine second hand for £165. Checkout the reviews.
