Hi All
I've seen a Sigma 17-35mm f2.8/4 DG lense on e-bay and it looks tempting. Iwas wondering wether to go for it as a replacement for my Pentax 18-55mm. I think it's the older model as the front focusing ring is different. What do you think or should i be looking for something else. I'll be using it on my K10D.
I've only got about 2hrs until the auction ends.

The 18-55mm Pentax lens is an able performer, so if you want to upgrade the best choice is arguably the SMC Pentax-DA 16-45mm f4, which is a superb professional-quality lens.

The Sigma lens you mention has a very reduced focal length range compared to what you have already, so I'm not sure it sounds all that interesting. I'm not a fan of independent lenses either in terms of quality of results or quality of manufacture, although there are notable exceptions.
Best regards, John
