Lens Prices November 2012

Some other prices have now been reduced such as the DFA100macroWR which is now £449. That's either a very good price reduction of 5% judged against the pre-hike prices or an astonishing reduction of 35% judged against the post hike prices, depending on your viewpoint. I regard it as a very good buy, but not the bargain of a lifetime to be snapped up before the price jumps by a couple of hundred for evermore.

I think a lot of people noticed that the prices of most lenses went up suddenly by a lot. Some of those are now coming back down again, which is welcome news and I think others will too. In such an unstable pricing environment it certainly pays an individual to monitor prices. I would have been very miffed indeed had I paid a 30% premium for a lens that was always going to return to a more normal price.

Thank you for your suggestion but I have no intention of buying other marques, 14 of my 15 lenses are Pentax lenses, including some of their finest glass. One would hope Pentax reads these threads to find out what their customers think. I don't want cheap prices, I want fair prices and stable prices, not wild price swings. Doesn't make me a traitor.

I just checked my messages and in 2009 I ordered one from SRS. Unfortunately my order got lost because Chris was away and meanwhile someone else snapped the last one up. The price is not mentioned in our exchanges but I am pretty sure we were talking less than 600£. It was before the HOYA-rise, and I bought an 43mm instead.

When I look at prices now, I wouldn't call it outrageous but the FA ltd's are borderline... But we've been there before. Fortunately my LBA is cured Well, the 100WR would be nice, of course ...

I think it would take too much effort to research that, but if I stumble across a 2009 price I'll let you know what it was.

No worries, John. It doesn't matter. I am happy to say I spend more time taking photos these days than time worrying about what gear to buy next. And if there ever was, there's no doubt anymore: I am the weakest link in the total setup I was just surprised when I saw 899 advertised as a bargain price.

That's really interesting, although it doesn't work very well and defaults back to current pages.

Still, first glance shows some interesting price movements, mostly upwards.

John, if you start at the first page and enter SRS web address, you get a page with all the dates that have been captured(blue circles) Like this:
link You can change the year at the top, and click links within the captured page, but these will often go to a " no archive exists" page or as you found out the current dates page. Still to have an archive of a relatively small website such as SRS dating back to 2001 is pretty impressive. It can become quite an addictive site once you start looking at archives of your favourite sites.

Looks plausible. And attractive prices! In 2010 the 31mm in on SALE!! for ONLY 1000£
