Lens Hoods - Help with Tight Ones

I always experienced a challenge fitting the lens hood on my Sigma 150 - 500 and DA 300* especially as they became older. Odd as I would have thought that with use they would loosen up a bit. So, to fix this challenge.

I used a cotton bud dampened with silicon dashboard spray - and I mean dampened not wetted. With one application wiping around the inside of all of my lens hoods I can say that fitting and removing is a pice of cake now.

Nice idea.

I often use a little bit of Pledge (or similar furniture polish) to lub plastics. Don't spray, just put a bit on a cloth and wipe carefully on the surfaces that contact each other. Slide and glide much better after treatment.

Probably the same stuff but the wife buys the furniture polish, I don't tend to buy dashboard much so there is some in the house already.

I have done my DA* 16-50 and 50-135 lenses as they were driving me mad, both now smooth and silky so thanks for the top tip!
