60-250 for the versatility - closeup/longer range
K5's (2)both gripped, K10d gripped, Pentax 28-90 f3.5, Sigma 18-250mm, Sigma 150-500mm. Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro, Sigma 10-20 f.4-5.6.EX DC, Hoya 135 f2.8, Take on 28mm f2.8 Pentax AF360 flash, 2 fill in slaves. 30 metre remote release, Rt angle viewfinder, Giotto NOT 3261B Tripod with Manfrotto 808Rd4 ball head, Manfroto 4861RC2 monopoly, shoulder stock, various filters etc, Panasonic SET HBS HD Video cam, Tamrac Explorer 8x backpack and a sore back.....

Both are f4, so 60-250 for versatility, 300 for extra reach.
If you only plan to take photos of flying craft, I'd say the 300mm would be better. If it's going to be a mixed bag of ground and air shots, then the 60-250mm will give you more opportunities.

The air festival is Bournemouth, where I understand most things worth photographing are in the air
So I think it is likely to be the DA* 300 and I might take the 1.7 converter.
I could also take the P70 as it takes up no space at all.

I am going to that ... I used the Bigma on the 2 previous shows and most were taken at 500mm. Only time you really need wider is for the red arrows.

As it is a business invite, I don't think that I can turn up with loads of kit, so (if I go) I was planning on taking one body and one lens.
But should the one lens be the DA* 60-250 or the DA* 300 :
