Lens extenders

I have a K7 bought last year and want to increase my telephoto range from 250 to about 500. Lenses aint cheap and I was wondering about lens extenders (I think that's the correct name) instead. A couple of plus points is that they are easier to carry around than a big lens and are a lot less expensive. Any thoughts?

Hi Joe. There has been a lot written about '''teleconverters''' recently. If you place yor cursor on Forum at the top of this page you will see 'Forum Search' in the drop down menu - click on that - type in teleconverters, and you should see a load of things that might help.

The downside is with many of them you will see a drop in image quality and a loss of two stops.

Think on this Joe - if it worked that well, why would people go to the bother and expense of getting larger lenses.
