Sadly, I think the cost of repair may well be more than the cost of a new camera.

Don't know if you can but you might want to look if new firmware is available.
If so you can install it so that fresh firmware is on it, it could help but also not.

Thank you. I think I've found an answer by simply googling 'lens error', which I should have done in the first place. I'll copy it in case anyone else encounters the same difficulty
