lens change advice

Hi all. Looking for a bit of lens advice here.
I first bought a new KR which came with a da-l 18-55 kit lens, but soon after got a used body only k5, so the kr hasnt been used since! (2300 actuations).
I seem to have accumulated a number of lenses since then, without much thought of focal length coverage or quality!
I have the da-l 18-55 which i will sell with the kr.
Tamron 70-300 di ld (possibly to sell)
Tamron 28-200 ld aspherical (possibly to sell)
Sigma 18-200 dc 3.5-6.3 (possibly to sell)
I also have pentax A 28mm 2.8 and a pentax A 50mm 1.7. I would like to keep these...i really like both of these and i use them for macro with extension tubes.
Lastly i have a pentax da 50-200 ed wr (unsure what to do with as yet)
So, heres where i need some advice.....
I would like to consolidate some of these into just two or three decent lenses. Up to now my options are to:-
A. get rid all the ones stated and go for the pentax 18-135 wr or the hd 55-300 wr (but which one?.....or get one now and one at a later date.
B. Keep the 50-200 wr and just get a 18-55wr.
Would the 18-135 be much of an upgrade on the ones i have in regards to IQ.
It does get very good reviews on here which i value more than any magazine article.
Is there any you would keep, and i mean in a quality sense, rather than just keeping for keepings sake.

The 18-135mm is an excellent and versatile WR lens. Add to that the 55-300mm and a fast 35mm or 50mm and you have a very competent kit. Other lenses can be added or substituted for specific requirements. For example, a macro is useful if needed for your style of photography.

I'd keep as many lenses as you feel like keeping though, as my experience is the one you sell is soon the one you could really do with having kept....

I just got a 18-135mm WR and love it. It's a really versatile lens with very good image quality.

I was official photographer recently for the Cartmel Agricultural show, the 18-135mm was the only lens I used on the day, if you want to see what sort of quality you get with the 18-135mm WR have a look here all the photos on the Cartmel Show 2014 galleries were taken with the 18-135mm and K3.

I would sell the two Tamrons and the Sigma, along with the Pentax 50-200 and do as John suggests, i.e. buy the Pentax 18-135 and 55-300. It's good to have a few primes, so keep these. There is no need for a 18-55WR if you have the 18-135, it will not bring you any benefit.

Thanks for that john. i am leaning towards the 18-135 for now with a view to getting the 55-300 at a later date. I really like my A 50mm 1.7 even though it is manual focus. I was actually considering the plastic 35mm and 50mm lenses, but felt i couldnt justify them just for autofocus.
Keeping them may yet be an option....

Thanks david. The 18-55 was only an option if i didnt go for the 18-135 and kept the 50-200 i.e. cheaper option.
So would the 18-135 and 55-300 be the better option quality wise rather than the 18-55 and 50-200.

Personally I would go 16-45mm and 55-300mm.

I have the 18-135mm and it's an excellent lens but if you intend carrying a 55-300mm around as well then a lot of the long end of the 18-135mm is wasted. With the 16-45mm f4 you get better quality, a wider focal length and a constant aperture. You could also probably manage to buy both at the same time rather than having to wait.

If on the other hand if you would mainly carry one lens and only occasionally take the 55-300mm then stick with the 18-135mm.

Mille19. Thanks for the advice...it was actually your thread about going for the 18-135 that got me into thinking about changing lenses myself. I had already looked at your cartmell show images and i liked them.......so its all your fault!

Mike. Thanks for that as well. What you say makes perfect sense with the 18-300mm covered with no overlap, but I probably would carry only one lens as you say so will probably go with the 18-135. I should have said also that the wr was one of my main considerations as well.

I could get the 18-135 and 55-300, keep my two primes, and thats it.....i would never have to buy another lens again

Why not go for 18-135mm WR and Sigma 150-500mm you'd have most FL's covered then.

18-135 is really very versatile, but is it really excellent? the reviews and user opinions are not very favourable to it ....how it compares with DA17-70 or DA16-45?

It depends which reviews and user opinions you read about the 18-135mm. I took the plunge and bought the lens and must say I'm very happy with it.
I also have the 16-45mm and think it won't be getting used so much now I've got the 18-135mm.

I am going for the 18-135 and 55-300 option, with the 18-135 first. they don't seem to come up very often used, so may have to new, 325 at srs. jessops are 379, though there is a discount code PENTAXLENS10 which gives 10per cent off, which has brought it down to 341.01, and they have in stock at my nearest store (Gateshead metrocentre). I have provisionally reserved one which they will hold for 3 days!!

any buying advice? ive never bought a "new" lens before.

I always use SRS and have never had any problems, and you get free delivery.
