LED Macro Lighting

Is anyone on here currently using LED lighting for Macro work? I'm less interested in ring lights, prefering a single or double spotlight setup. When I first looked at the subject (just after Nikon brought out their ringlight) there did'nt seem to be much about. A recent web search produced loads of stuff, a lot of it in German! I don't want to spend a fortune, or go the DIY route ideally (although I can if needed) I'm hoping there may be something less expensive I can try out.
