Hard luck with the KX, I hate it when things like that happen.
I've had my fingers burnt on a P30 which "just needs batteries".
I'll have to strip and locate the bad connection before I can do anything with it. On the plus side it only cost me £2!

I am glad to say that most of the time things work out. The K series 135mm seems to be fine, and the SPII seems great too. BTW hefty, how do you attach a filter to the 43mm Ltd? I'm thinking of a polarizer before the anti-UV brigade jump on me
BTW Tel... there isn't a FA 50mm f/1.2 :

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Oh well, I'm always on the look out for lens bits for the parts box - never mind.hefty1 wrote:

As for filters on the 43; the lens hood screws on to the filter thread (49mm). If you've got a filter with threads both sides you can sandwich it between lens and hood, if it's only got threads on the back (like most polarisers) then you have to use it hoodless, or get an oversized 3rd party hood that attaches with thumb screws - I wouldn't want my baby getting scratched so not an option for me .

At the moment I cannot get the hood to unscrew and I am loathe to apply too much pressure to it. I'll try again. You bought one then? Well done!
The trick is to twist it gently - if you grip it too hard you cause it to flex and tighten further. Try gripping just one part of the lip between your thumb and forefinger and pulling it gently.

...or place your palm flat over the front and twist - it evens up the pressure across the entire hood.

Sssshhhhhh Sadly SRS didn't have a silver one.
The flat palm idea worked a treat. Many thanks.
Now for a day with time and light. I seem to always have one or the other lately. Yesterday afternoon I went out for a walk with the Ltd and the 135 (amongst other things) and the light was as flat and uninteresting as it is possible to get. Then I got a lift home and, wow, lovely sunset. By the time I was home, I'd missed it!
Oh well, another day.
Thanks again, Kris.
PS now you can stop being devil's advocate over my shoulder.
PPS I have yet to try it on the LX/MX etc.

Get thee away from me!
Or the 31mm come to that. I am placing a moratorium on my purchases for a while. I have enough toys to play with that I haven't really tested out properly.

Yeah, I really should get into gear and buy a 31 soon too...
For me the 43 is the perfect indoor lens so don't let the weather put you off - get snapping round the house

Hertfordshire,
mostly.
When I asked the seller for a refund he refused anything more than a 40% discount. He claimed that I was being overly fussy as I was "a collector", and that for just taking photos it is fine The seller finally relented after I had consulted Trading Standards and threatened to take the matter to the small claims court. He still thinks I am "being unreasonable".
Oh well. Another bargain turned out to be a bust.
BTW lots of LX stuff sold for good prices on ebay last night, more than I was willing to pay in most cases.
Best wishes, Kris.
