KM Resetting time

Hello

My KM has started resetting everything each time I turn it on. So the time needs resetting each switch on!

PC's have cmos batteries, is it the same with a camera and how or how much is it to get this replaced?

It sounds like a rechargeable battery for the camera settings has given up, but it may just be that you are leaving the batteries out for too long? This will happen if there's no power for a long period of time.

To be sure, whu not contact one of the repair houses and see what they say?

There is a setting in the menus for the K10/K20 as to what you want reset and what you want to keep each time you turn it on. I have it set to put the ISO to 200 and get rid of any exposure compensation etc. No idea if the K-m has the same sort of thing?

Its just the internal time that is reset, all settings are kept the same. Must be a small watch battery sort that needs replacing. Will wait to hear.

And now has strangely fixed? Have been changing rechargeables recently.

The KM initial location and date settings have a final prompt that isn't particularly obvious - if you don't explicitly tell it your settings are complete it forgets them. I ran in to this after taking a KM to bits, for a while every time I turned it on it gave the initial setup dialog even though it remembered all the other settings. I thought the 'settings complete' box was a message, but you need to press it to make the 'settings complete'
