Nice catch, I find it interesting that a Kingfisher can look so different in other countries (as do other birds).

I think UK Kingfishers look a bit prettier in the UK (for once) but I imagine they are still a right pain to photograph no matter where you live.

As Mike says, nice catch. We have one near where I live, (Waters of Leith). Gorgeous iridescent colours but so quick!

Thanks Mike, I honestly cant remember what a kingfisher from the UK looks like, I will have to revisit.
There are about 4 varieties here not including the two Kookaburra types we get.

Standing on bridge over The Itchen yesterday, one of these coming straight at me, warp factor 10, by the time my poor old brain registered this it was 100 yards behind me. Not a chance of a grab even, and camera was in hand.

I NEED to go back and try to improve on this one taken last year. Poss only worth half of your left one SPAD as it's not too sharp!!

Gotta K-3iii now, had a K-S2, K50 and so suffering from a relapse and so buying digital camera kit.
Previous addiction has resulted in using Zeniths, Yashicamat, Chinons, Minoltas, Samsungs, Fujis, Cosina, Kodak, Lumix, Canon, Nikon and Pentax etc etc - have tried most makes in the past 50 years. Love cameras - love taking photos even more
