Kinder Scout Dawn

Got up early yesterday to try to catch the sunrise on Kinder Scout. Cocked up my timings a bit, so couldn't get quite where I wanted in time. So rather than the carefully controlled compositions intended, I ended up just snapping away on the march. It was also bloomin' cold and surprisingly windy... to the point at which my fingers (and brain) stopped working properly.

So having got my excuses in ...

Gobsmacked at the amount of 'shadow detail' that can be retrieved in PP from the K5. Having got used to the K7 it seems almost scandalous (in a nice way!) that the K5 can get so much information from high dynamic range situations.

A very nice set indeed,, particularly like the last four shots, great tones and color and very nicely composed.

Very good set. My favourites are also the last four. Wonderful scenery and composition.

My vote is also for the last 4. Brings back happy memories of camping at the bottom of that hill and making the trek to a semi frozen waterfall (not at dawn though - I do have limitations)

Is it just me or does #2 look like a man shouting? . Great shots though!

I thought that too when I looked earlier. They're all very nice photos, well done that author.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

The last one benefited most from the K5s ability to keep detail in apparent blackness.

Unprocessed version

Almost all of the rocks at the bottom left were completely 'clipped' in the histogram and the shadow warning. The processed image would not take being blown up much beyond A4 because of halo-ing , but even so I'm mighty impressed.
