3: Its the equal of the K5 (which I also have) in image quality.
4: It may be a plastic body but it feels very sturdy unlike some of the cheaper plasticky models from other manufacturers.
5: I love it to bits
6: Enjoy your new K30 - it will serve you well.

I think the blue is nice too, but it was out of stock and I didn't want to wait Wish the orange available in Japan could be bought here.....

I got a blue K30 when they first came out - at the old higher price. Pentaxophile wrote:

Now that really has not helped me as I really fancied the blue one - but have only seen images of it - decisions decisions.....but the blue colour is hideous in the flesh, IMHO!)

1. Yes.
2. It does not look or feel as nice, but feels solidly put together. The matt black version doesn't feel as nice as the gloss white (or blue, but the blue colour is hideous in the flesh, IMHO!)
3. There are less on-body controls, so you may need to menu dive slightly more often to change AF modes etc.
If you shoot in Liveview at all, the Liveview AF is MILES better, and the focus peaking is quite good for using with manual lenses (not as good as Sony's focus peaking though).
I wouldn't describe the blue offering as hideous dude. I took a long look at a blue version when they first came out despite decided upon a white one. The blue tone impressed me with its deep lustre quite frankly, and even more so when struck by different strengths and angles of light. However, I had a vision of the white K30 chassis coupled to my black 150/500 lens and ultimately stuck to that particular colour coordinated script. In truth(and despite a few sceptical comments beforehand) said combo has subsequently impressed all by virtue of its dynamic contrast (as in all have more or less agreed that said combo does rather look the dogs 'nads).1. Yes.

The blue body is worth considering though...unless of course the sad fact is that we the photographic massive find anything beyond traditional black to be utterly abhorrent!
