K7 to K5 11

I have just bought a K5 11 from Clifton cameras which I am hoping will be a noticeable step up from my much loved K7. As yet not really had chance to try out the image quality, but the focusing does indeed seem sharper.A couple of things seem slightly different though, the feel of the buttons to me seem better on the K7, the K5 11 having an almost audible click to them (hard to describe just different). Also when trying to input a name in the copyright menu, I cannot seem to be able to input a space between words, when I do it on the K7 it is OK but on the K5 11 I get a symbol appear. Any ideas would be appreciated. I am definitely keeping my my much loved K7, but do have a K100d Super body that I am open to offers. ( P.M. if interested.

There's a kind of underscore character on the K-5 MKI that is used to input a space on the user memory names. never used the copyright naming thing but I assume it's the same.

And you'll notice a nice increase in IQ especially at higher ISO settings

Seem to remember having to use the same undercores on the K7, in fact.

What do you think of the colours from the K5ii, Colin?

The underscore denotes files shot in AdobeRGB format.

Here's a link to a recent thread on file naming, it may be helpful....

Is that right Brian? I always set my cameras to sRGB, but distinctly remember inputting (c)will_brealey under the 'copyright exif data'.

Hi

Just tried it on my K5 (bought from Brian and very pleased with it ). Anyway using the under score symbol with the little uprights ( like this [ but rotated 90 degree anticlockwise) give a space in the copyright name. Bit long winded!!!

Cheers all

Thanks for the replies, I used the underscore symbol on my K7 to input a space, but it does not seem to work on the K5 !! which is a bit disconcerting, I will try again perhaps I am missing something.
As for the colours Pentaxophile I still need to play with it some more , they do seem to stand out more. I use the natural colour setting.

Cheers Colin.

Didn't read the OP's post correctly, I though we were talking about files names

I have noticed the difference in the buttons too, They don't feel quite the same quality to me. And don't get me started on the strap! It's crap! I had the same strap ion my K-7 and after 100,000 shots it is still in OK nick. The one on my K-5iis feels lower quality and is already badly fraying, shockingly poor quality.
IQ and AF on the other hand are exceptional and as for high ISO I daren't use the K-7 above 800 but the 5iis is awesome even up to 6400.

I got my K5 used from SRS and it didn't come with a strap or the little ring-thingies... Had to get my own...

I wouldn't worry too much about the strap, I've bought a couple of 'Caden Quickstraps', the neoprene over the shoulder type, 4.15 each including free delivery from China. They are superb quality for the money and much better / easier to use than the standard straps.

As for the buttons, I've never had any problem with any of them, they seem of good quality to me and work very well, but I haven't had a K-7, so I can't compare.

Cheers
